JAMMU, APRIL 11: A delegation of Federation of Industries today called on Minister for Industries & Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga to discuss various issues pertaining to the development of industry sector in the state.

The delegation was led by the Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu Lalit Mahajan, Co-Chairman of Federation Rattan Dogra, Jatinder Aul and Deepak Dhawan, General Secretary Pardeep Vaid, Senior Vice-President Association of Industries Gangyal, Bansi Lal Gupta, General Secretary, Birpur Industries Association, Gagan Jain and other office bearer of the Federation.

During the meeting, the delegation discussed the issues confronting the industries in detail and sought the intervention of state government especially the Industries Minister for their resolution.

The Minister while addressing the delegation said that J&K will get the maximum incentives of GST as it is a consumer state rather than a manufacturer state. He assured the delegation that J&K will get the same package which is being given to North-Eastern States and will soon take up the matter with centre government in this regard.

“Government is committed to safeguard the interest of business community and every possible step will be taken in this regard”, Ganga added.

He asserted that business plays a crucial role in economic growth of the region and setting up business establishments should be made easier so that interested people be attracted in establishing industries in the state.

Ganga said that J&K has got lot of investment opportunities and our government is always ready to welcome the investors in the state. He stressed on the need for effective operational strategies to create enhanced opportunities of employability in the state.

Later, the Minister visited Exhibition Ground to inspect the under construction multi-purpose building which is to be constructed by SICOP at an estimated cost of Rs 18 crore.

On the occasion, the Minister was informed that there will be an exhibition hall, auditorium, conference hall, parking and shops. He asked the officers to gear up their men and machinery to complete the work in time bound manner.
