Civilian killing in Kulgam triggers protest in Sopore

Sopore: As the news about civilian killing in Kulgam South Kashmir reached here early this morning, students of Degree College  and Higher Secondary School Sopore took to streets to protest against the killings and clashed with forces deployed in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

According to reports, scores of students returning from tuition centers stage protest over the killing outside Government Boys Higher Secondary School Iqbal Market Sopore and shouted anti-India slogans which led minor clashes between security forces and uniformed students.

Soon after the protests, forces swung into the action and disperse the protesters by using mild laticharge on them, in view of protests additional forces were deployed in the town to thwart any kind of protest.

Talking to Kashmir Images, Principal Government Degree College Sopore Mushatq Ahmad said,”Class work has been suspended in the college due to some protest outside the institution, we suspended class work for a day on precautionary  after receiving orders from administration.”

Meanwhile, overall situation in the town is peaceful when last reports came.
