Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has expressed its deep concern over the pitiable conditions of the political detainees languishing in various jails in and outside Jammu and Kashmir.
“They (prisoners) have been deprived of all the facilities. A number of under trial prisoner, convicts and detenues have been shifted to the jails outside the valley. They have been subjected to inhuman treatment after a detenue escaped from a hospital,” said a statement issued here today.
“Jama’at-e-Islami impresses upon the concerned jail administrations to honor the fundamental rights of the political detainees and prisoners as per the international law relating thereto. Jama’at also demands unconditional release of all political detainees and those convicts who have normally completed their sentences,” said the statement.
