Srinagar, Apr 07: Fire engulfed half-a-dozen houses and a godown at Maharja Gunj area of downtown Srinagar on Saturday.
Witnesses said that the fire appeared at a house today morning and soon spread to other five adjacent houses and a godown.
Seven to eight fire-tenders were pressed into the service to douse the flames, locals said, adding that property worth lakhs of rupees was damaged in the fire.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, said an official.
