Stone Pelting: 2 CRPF men killed, one injured in Kokernag

Anantnag, Apr 04: Two CRPF personnel were killed and another injured during stone pelting at Hillar Kokernag Wednesday evening.

The deceased paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were identified as Nisar Ahmad Wani from Verinag  and Riyaz Ahmad Wani from Kokernag. They were posted with 164 Battalion.

Giving details of the incident, DIG CRPF Mosin Shaheedi told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the duo was riding a motorcycle and were followed by a CRPF vehicle when the on-duty officials were attacked by stone pelters at Hillar Kokernag.

“The stone-pelters inserted a rod into the tyre of the motorcycle resulting in death of the two on-duty personnel,” the DIG said.

He said the CRPF vehicle was also attacked by the same stone pelters and the driver lost control and the vehicle turtle on the road resulting in injuries to another CRPF man  identified as Boop Singh.
