“Consequent upon his prima facia involvement in case (FIR No. 18/2018 u/s 307 RPC), Selection Grade Constable Gulzar Ahmad (belt no. 422/Gbl) is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending enquiry,” reads an order issued by the SSP Ganderbal.

A magisterial enquiry has also been ordered into the killing of the youth.

Rather had sustained serious firearm injuries in the head on Monday late afternoon and was taken to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to injuries after 20-hours on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, even as authorities had imposed curfew in Kangan on Wednesday to thwart protests against Gowhar’s killing, it couldn’t prevent fresh clashes in some areas.

Internet service were also snapped in the area.

An official said that curfew has been imposed and Internet service snapped to prevent “law and order problems”.

Despite curfew, fresh protests rocked Kangan today when youth tried to take out a protest rally against the killing.

Reports said forces resorted to tear-gas shelling to disperse the protesting youth. Some youth and a policeman suffered minor injuries in today’s clashes.

Funeral prayers in absentia were also held for the slain youth in three different localities of Kangan today.

Locals assembled at Eidgah Kangan and offered funeral prayers in absentia for the slain youth. They also raised pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans before dispersing off peacefully.

Prayers were also held at Kijpora and Preng localities.
