MLA inaugurates camp by SHD

KATHUA, MARCH 30: MLA Hiranagar, Kuldeep Raj Friday inaugurated one day Ram and Buck show organized by Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department, Kathua at Hiranagar Morh.

About 250 breeders from District Kathua, Samba and Jammu participated in the show along with their high breed male Sheep (Ram) and Goat. The program was organised under National Livestock Mission a centrally sponsored Scheme.

The legislator was accompanied by Director Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar.

In his address MLA  said that  livestock farming  has the potential of providing employment to unemployed, illiterate, unskilled and under privileged sections of the society and can contribute  significantly in increasing GDP of the state adding that the need is to generate  awareness about the schemes of the department.

On the occasion Director Sheep Husbandry Department also highlighted the importance of livestock and urged the people to opt for this sector for increasing their income.

Prominent Breeders also spoke on the occasion.

MLA Kuldeep Raj distributed an amount of Rs 80,000 among breeders in the form of cash prizes in ten different categories. Two best animals of the show were awarded cash prize of Rs.10, 000 each in Ram and Buck category.

Joint Director Farms, District Sheep Husbandry officer Kathua, CAHO Kathua, Parasitologist, Assistant Director Govt. DGF Rajbagh, Scientist from SKUAST –J and officers from Agriculture Department Kathua also participated in the event.
