Srinagar, March 26: Police has arrested some people involved in burglaries in some Srinagar areas and recovered stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees.

A police spokesman, in a statement issued here said that reports with regard to the theft and burglary were continuously reported in the jurisdiction of police station Nowhatta and Khanyar and  in order to curb the menace, two teams were constituted by SP City North Sajad Ahmad Shah.

Both the police teams have worked some burglary cases in a short-period of time, said the spokesman.

Giving details, the spokesman said that during investigation of case FIR No. 108/2016 under section 379 RPC of Police Station Nowhatta two accused, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Gh. Qadir resident of Rarayan Bagh Ganderbal and Gh. Hassan Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Saidapora Eidgah were arrested and large quantity of ornaments and other items having valuation in lakhs were recovered on their instance and the long pending case was worked out.

Besides on 24/02/18 Police Station Khanyar worked out case FIR No. 16/2018 under section 454,380 RPC by effecting arrest of one suspect, Sheikh Ravees Ahmad son of Mohammad Aslam resident of Mirza Bagh Nigeen and stolen items i.e. mobile phones etc worth Rs 21000/ have been recovered on his instance.

Another case FIR No. 22/2018 under section 454,380 RPC has also been worked out in a short period by effecting arrest of one suspect Irfan Ahmad Sheikh son of Nazir Ahmad resident of Namachbal Fateh-Kadal A/P  Tabardar Mohalla Khanyar as tenant and stolen property, electronic items i.e. LCD, Laptop  etc worth Rs 1,25000 have been recovered on his instance.
