He was shifted to a Srinagar hospital where he breathed his last today morning, reports said, quoting sources.

SSP Kulgam Shirdhar Patil, in a press conference today, blamed militants for abducting and torturing Bhat.

“He (Bhat) was abducted by militants from his native village Qaimoh. He was beaten mercilessly and was also tortured with the intention to spread fear in public in his locality,” SSP said.

He said later on he was thrown away at village Ves Batpora from where he was shifted to District Hospital Kulgam in critical condition, and later referred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar and was admitted in ICU.

SSP said Police Station Qaimoh has registered case (FIR no. 04/2018 U/S 364  RPC) and investigation taken up.

“During the course of investigation it came to fore that terrorist are harassing the people by way of issuing warning letters to the general people to intensify terror among masses,” SSP said.

He also said a special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam to investigate the case.

“Credible leads will help to solve the case and  justice will be delivered accordingly,” SSP said.
