J&K Bank Celebrates World Arbour Day

Srinagar, Mar 21: On the occasion of World Arbour Day, J&K Bank planted hundreds of saplings comprising of various species across Kashmir in all the parks and gardens developed and maintained under its Heritage Preservation Programme.

The main function was held at Badamvaer, a picturesque heritage Almond garden in  Srinagar, wherein the bank’s Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed led the drive in presence of the bank’s Executive President Vagesh Chander, Presidents P K Tickoo, Abdul Rashid Shegan, Zonal Heads Kashmir Central 1, Kashmir Central 2, Vice Presidents and other senior officers planted different trees in the park.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman and CEO said, “As a socially conscious institution we see our role in preservation of state’s ecology besides cultural heritage. Planting of trees in all the parks, managed and developed by the bank, is a symbolic gesture for the celebration of Navroz and World Arbour Day.”

“The idea is to communicate bank’s unflinching commitment to the cause of community development, of which both environmental awareness and preservation of heritage parks are part of the important undertaking”, he added.

Taking stock of the various plant species at Badamvaer, Chairman also instructed the concerned officers to enhance efforts in maintaining the grandeur of the park.

Apart from the main function, J&K Bank also conducted plantation drives in various parks under its different zones of the Kashmir region.

Zonal Head Kashmir (North) Zone Fayaz Ahmad Sidiqui along with concerned Cluster Heads planted hundreds of saplings at Gulnar Park Baramulla.

Zonal Head Kashmir South (Anantnag) Imtiyaz Hussaini also planted number of saplings at Gulistan Wazir Bagh Park maintained by the bank.

Also Zonal Head Kashmir South (Pulwama) Tasaduq Hussain Dar along with other officers of the bank planted saplings of different species at Shaheed Park Pulwama.
