During the meeting, poultry farmers raised several issues confronting them vis-à-vis rearing of poultry birds. They said there is no proper mention of MRP and the ingredients that the feed is prepared of on the feed bags.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to take note of lapses made on part of the manufacturers and take serious action against the erring traders. He also directed concerned departments to undertake rate analysis of the feed bags and also ensure sample testing of the feed to check the quality of the product.

The farmers appealed Div Com to pave way for separate poultry Mandi so that it becomes easier for them to purchase and sell products to which he assured them that the matter will be looked into.

The meeting was attended by District Commissioner Pulwama, Director Industries and Commerce, Director FCS&CA, Director Animal Husbandry, Kashmir, Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Deputy Director Drugs and Food Safety and Standards and others besides representatives from Poultry Farmers Union SIDCO Lassipora, Pulwama.

Meanwhile, the Drugs and Food Control Department said that no dressed chicken from outside the State will be allowed to be transported into Valley if they fail to transport them in refrigerator vans.
