Deptt of Agri organizes Kissan Mela

SRINAGAR, MARCH 10: Department of Agriculture district Srinagar today organised Kissan Mela cum exhibition and awareness camp here at Mujhgund.

Additional deputy development Commissioner Srinagar Mufti Fareed Ahmad along with joint director (ext) Kashmir Abdul Rahim Samoon inaugurated the camp. The camp has been organised by the Agriculture Department, District Srinagar, under ATMA scheme.

Various stalls were also erected on the occasion, which showcased different High Yielding Variety seeds, Hybrid Vegetables, Floriculture plants of aromatic and medicinal value, besides, Mushroom & Apiculture.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner asked the farmers to take benefit of agriculture schemes and attend these awareness programmes. He emphasised on commercial vegetable cultivation and organic farming and minimising the use of insecticides and pesticides.

Dignitaries distributed certificates among the progressive farmers who have shown outstanding performance in different agriculture sectors such as vegetables, saffron, honey production.

Technical session was carried in which experts gave awareness to farmers about different crops to be raised on scientific grounds and gave awareness about Disease and Pest Management, Soil Health Management, Mushroom and Apiculture.

Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Ghulam Rasool Ganaie gave a brief about the schemes and programmes implemented and achievements in district Srinagar during the current year.

Besides, concerned officers a gathering of about 200 farmers attended the camp.
