DGP Prisons visits Central Jail Srinagar, reviews security arrangements

Jammu: Director General of Police, Prisons J&K, Dilbag Singh visited Central Jail Srinagar to assess the security situation in the security sensitive institution.

He was accompanied by DIG Prisons, Dr. Mohd Sultan Lone, SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray, SP Hazratbal Amod Nagpure, Commandant 82 Bn. CRPF R. Balakrishna, Staff Officer to DGP Prisons S.A Beig and SP of Central Jail Mukesh Kumar Kakkar, SDPO Khanyar Raja Zuhaib and SHO Rainawari Police Station Inspector J.P. Singh, Company Commander, CRPF posted there.

Whole of the institution including infrastructure constructed as well as open area available inside and outside boundary wall was inspected to get familiarize with the topography and layout which will help in making better security arrangements and take appropriate security precautions in view of the location of the Jail which is situated in the densely populated Rainawari on one side and Badamwari on the other side.

A high level security meeting among the officers present was held in the office chamber of Superintendent Jail wherein basic infrastructure and gadgetry requirements were discussed and immediate security measures viz-a-viz long term improvement areas were identified and discussed. The DGP directed all stake holders to be extra vigilant and alert in view of the sensitivity of the Institution and present security scenario in the valley.

This was the first visit of Dilbag Singh to Central Jail Srinagar after taking over as Head of Prison Department. With todays’ visit he has completed security review of all the Jails located in Kashmir valley for the last three days camping in Srinagar.
