Reasi, Feb 21: As part of public outreach programme, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today visited Reasi and convened a grievances redressal camp here today.
During the camp the Chief Minister listened to scores of deputations and hundreds of people from difficult and hilly areas who apprised her of their developmental needs and sought their redressal, an official press release said.
It said the demands put forth by the deputations during the day-long public outreach programme included operationalization of Maternity Hospital at Reasi, bringing the area on the tourist map, upgradation of several roads and pacing up of developmental works in the district and other demands.
A deputation of residents of Reasi town demanded immediate operationalization of Maternity Hospital, bringing the town on tourist map and formulation of a cable car project between Sullah Park and Bhimgarh fort, construction of Sarsote-Shopian and Gulabgarh-Nadimarg roads, augmentation of power infrastructure, pacing up of work on the grid station and development of a children’s park in the town.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs 30 lakhs for operationalization of Maternity Hospital, Rs 20 lakhs for development of Sulla Park and Rs 10 lakhs for developing children’s park in the town.
Several deputations from Gulabgarh area demanded construction of Gulabgarh-Nadimarg road to provide alternate connectivity between the two regions. The deputations also sought opening of ITI centres at Mahore, Chassana and Gulabgarh, reservation in admissions at SMVDU for the students of the district, nursing college at Mahore and developing Dagan Top and Akhsi as tourist destinations.
Another deputation from the area sought opening of bank branches at Deval, Bhader, Tuli and Shergari, development of sports grounds at Sungdi and Akhsi besides urgent completion of water supply schemes in the region. They also sought establishment of fruit mandies at Chassana, Mahore and Sungdi besides establishment of college at Pouni and upgradation of local health centre.
The Chief Minister announced release of Rs 30 lakhs for developing playfields at Sungdi and Akhsi, directed prioritisation of some water supply schemes in the area for early completion and assured to look into the demand of opening of more bank branches in the region.
A deputation of Gujjar & Bakerwals sought reestablishment of mobile schools and dispensaries in their habitations, enhancement in the ration quota, realignment of Shikari-Ballard road, upgradation of some schools in the area and construction of Sonchal-Ballard bridge.
Several deputations from Thakrakote sough construction of receiving station in the area, development of sports in the area, release of payments under PMGSY and establishment of bank branches at Jij and Thakrakote.
The Chief Minister directed release of Rs 50 lakhs for the receiving station at Thakrakote and directed immediate start of work. She also directed development of water sports at Chinkra, given its potential there.
A deputation of District Bar Association sought decongestion of the court complex and identification of alternate place for its functioning.
The Chief Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi to look into the issue while announcing release of Rs 10 lakhs for upgrading various facilities in the court complex.
A deputation from Salal complained of scarcity of drinking water in the area, development of sports-field and upgradation of school at Salal Kotli.
Mehbooba Mufti directed complete operationalization of Salal water supply scheme within a week’s time and development of a sports-field by Sports Council in convergence mode with Rural Development Department.
A deputation from Thuru village also demanded upgradation of grid station, pacing up of work on Revenue complex, Dharmari and Reasi-Mahore-Dharmari under construction road, establishment of Hostel at Dharmari college and introduction of Science streams and sports there.
Mehbooba Mufti announced release of Rs 36 lakhs for Grid upgradation in the area and Rs 10 lakhs for developing sports field at Dharmari. She also asked for pacing up work on the Revenue complex and directed the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi to sort out issues coming in the way of early completion of Reasi-Mahore-Dharmari road.
A deputation of people from Arnas demanded upgradation of health facilities in the area, completion of water supply schemes in the area and establishment of Munsiff court and Railway Collector for the area.
The Chief Minister directed release of Rs 20 lakhs for completing the water supply scheme Bidda while assuring the deputation to look into their other issues.
A deputation of people from Shikari and Dugri villages sought establishment of V-Sats at Mahore and Chassana for easy connectivity of the area. They also demanded upgradation of approach road to Arnas hospital and upgradation of Thakrakote High school.
Mehbooba Mufti announced release of Rs 20 lakhs for upgradation of approach road to Arnas Hospital. She also directed formulation of DPR for Gobian-Garda road and announced release of Rs 20 lakhs for constructing community hall at Sukhal.
A deputation from Shergarhi, Gulabgarh sought construction of Sarsole-Shopian road for alternate connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir regions. They also demanded upgradation of power infrastructure in areas of Chungra, Sarsote, Manjikote, Malikote and Shiblas for which the Chief Minister announced release of Rs 20 lakhs.
A deputation of Talwara migrants sought their proper rehabilitation.
Another deputation of people demanded extension of Railway line from Arnas to Rajouri via Budhal and filling up of vacant posts of ZEOs at Chassana and Mahore.
The Chief Minister assured the deputation to look into their demands.
Many other deputations from other areas of the district also met the Chief Minister and apprised her of their problems.
Mehbooba Mufti listened to the demands of the deputations throughout the day and it continued till late in the night. In many cases the Chief Minister gave on spot directions for the redressal of the grievances which was hailed by the deputationists.
Besides the Minister of State for Finance & Planning, Ajay Nanda and legislators Ajaz Ahmad Khan and Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Sharma; IGP Jammu zone, Dr. SDS Jamwal; senior officers from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Planning Department; heads of several Departments; Chiefs of many Engineering wings and Heads of several Departments; Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, R. Prassanna; SSP, Tahir Sajad Bhat; and officers of divisional and District administration were present on the occasion.
This is the seventh public outreach programme of the Chief Minister in the Jammu province. Earlier, she conducted a similar public outreach programmes at Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Kathua and Samba. She has already conducted such programmes at Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipore, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Budgam and Baramulla in Kashmir Valley during which hundreds of people apprised her about their problems and difficulties.
The public outreach programmes launched by the Chief Minister have evoked an interesting response from the public who come up with their problems for an on the spot redressal.
