Srinagar: A fire incident in the government residential quarters at Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, this morning left a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and a firefighter injured, officials said.
He said the injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment and the fire was later brought under control.
An official from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department told News Observer (KNO) that a fire broke out in a double-storey government residential building, which houses two quarter sets (29 and 30).
He said fire tenders rushed to the scene shortly after the incident was reported, and an operation was launched to douse the flames.
He said in the incident Hilal Ahmad, a DSP of the ACB residing in one of the quarters, sustained burn injuries and was shifted to a hospital before the arrival of the Fire and Emergency Services.
“During the firefighting operation, Basit, a firefighter, was also injured. Both are now receiving medical attention, and their condition is stable,” he said.
