Dir Horti reviews progress on PeQ facility at FPN Panzimulla

SRINAGAR: The Director of Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. MIR today visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Panzmulla, Anantnag to review the progress of the Post Entry Quarantine (PeQ) facility being developed there.

The said PeQ facility is being developed under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to create a rootstock bank and nursery block for high-quality planting material imported from outside the country.

The Department of Horticulture Kashmir is tasked with developing nursery blocks, rootstock banks, mother blocks, and protected cultivation in both public and private sectors in the Kashmir division.

During the visit, the Director gave on-spot instructions to the officer in charge of the nursery to ensure that the land is prepared for the establishment of the PeQ facility in time for the prestigious government project.

He further informed that the matter of declaring the nursery as a PeQ center has already been taken up with SKUAST-K and will subsequently be taken with the Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine and Storage, Faridabad.

Later, the Director of Horticulture who is also the supervisory officer for the HADP Orientation Programme for the district Shopian and Pulwama visited Panchayat Halqa Babapora, Zainapora, Shopian, and participated in a training session.

A good number of farmers participated in the training session, during which the Director thoroughly interacted with the farmers and appraised them about the various schemes and projects under HADP.

The Director was accompanied by the Joint Director of Horticulture Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat; the Chief Horticulture Officer, Anantnag, M. Amin Bhat and the Technical Officer, Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir.
