Follow Agri Depts’s advisories strictly amid prevailing weather conditions: Director to farmers

Visits Tahab Zone of Pulwama

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited different areas of zone Tahab of Pulwama and took stock of the agriculture scenario in the area.

The Director of Agriculture said that amid the prevailing weather scenario till now there is no damage to the agriculture crop in any district of the division. He said that under the supervision of the directorate of agriculture, the department is closely monitoring the situation and the field staff is working in close coordination with the farming community of the region.

He said that crop-wise advisories are being issued to the farmers so that the necessary precautionary measures for different crops could be ensured.

The Director of Agriculture asked the farming community to strictly follow the guidelines and instructions by the field functionaries in order to protect different agricultural crops from any damage amid prevailing weather conditions.

He said that under the Holistic Agriculture Development programme the vegetable farmers of zone Tahab and other areas are now being promoted as seed producers and contribute to the seed production chain of the UT of J&K. He said this would not only improve the socio-economic conditions of the concerned farmers but will also generate employment opportunities in the area.

Earlier, the Director of Agriculture inspected the seed multiplication farm Padgampora and took stock of different agriculture activities and steps taken as crop protection measures amid intermittent rains in the area.

Later, the Director of Agriculture held a meeting with the FPOs members at the Wakherwan area of zone Tahab, and a detailed exchange of thoughts took place in the meeting.

The Director of Agriculture was accompanied by District Agriculture Officer Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah and other senior officers of the department.
