VIJAYPUR: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh, has said that the bureaucracy wants to delay assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The suffering of the people of Jammu and Kashmir can be addressed by holding assembly elections. However, the bureaucracy does not want elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said addressing a workers’ meeting in Raya in Samba District.

He further said, “The elected representatives are answerable to the people of their respective constituencies. Therefore, the assembly elections in J&K should be held as early as possible to end the suffering of the masses.”

“The people of both the regions have collective demand i.e., to restore Statehood. The demands and sufferings of both regions are the same as the people are fed up with the LG Administration due to their non-responsive approach towards the suffering of the people,” he added.

He said that the LG administration has canceled many recruitments and all these recruitments conducted post-2019 turned out to be major scams in J&K leading to more unemployment.

“The educated youth who deserved to be observed in the Govt jobs have become overaged and they are now unable to get jobs. The private sector is not powerful enough to generate employment for the local youths. However, the industrial sector in Samba, Jammu, and Kathua also prefers non-locals over locals. Therefore, the authorities should ensure jobs for the locals in private and industrial sectors,” he added.

He further said, “However, the bureaucracy does not want elections in Jammu and Kashmir that is why they play their major role in adopting delaying tactics by misleading the Govt and the Election Commission.”

Meanwhile, he accused LG Administration of adopting a discriminatory approach towards the Kandi areas of the Jammu region with no employment policy or any kind of development project.

He said that the Kandi area is worst hit with growing unemployment, poor pace of development, and shortage of drinking water supply system.

He said that the issues have been raised repeatedly but the administration seems to be sleeping over issues of the people who have been forced to face underdevelopment and growing unemployment.

“The Govt should announce an employment policy for the educated unemployed youth of Kandi belt and hold on-spot recruitment in the security forces,” he said.

He said that the Govt should review the situation in the Kandi area and ensure the overall development of the Kandi belt which has been left unaddressed. “The development and shortage of drinking water supply are among the worst issues being confronted by the people,” he said.

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include District President Samba, Raman Thappa, Block President Vijaypur Ex-Capt Mohan Lal Sharma, District President SC Wing, and Sarpanch Vijaypur Capt Joginder Lal, District President Youth Wing Samba, Mangat Ram, Adv Lovely Mangol and others.
