Remain proactive for the needs of farmers, youth: Atal Dulloo directs officers

Chairs SLEC meet of MIDH

JAMMU: Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Department (APD), Atal Dulloo today the State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Forests, Sanjeev Verma; Director Horticulture Kashmir and Mission Director, MIDH, G.R.Mir; Director Horticulture Jammu, Director Agriculture Jammu/Kashmir, Director Horticulture, Planning and Marketing, representative of MIDH, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, representatives of Industries and Commerce department, Rural Development Department, Cooperative Department, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, SKUAST Jammu/Kashmir, and other concerned officers both in person and through video conferencing.

During the meeting, various issues related to the holistic development of the horticulture sector across J&K were discussed in detail besides various measures taken for skill development and creating employment generation opportunities for youth were also deliberated in the meeting.

Addressing the officers, Atal Dulloo, who is also the Chairman of SLEC highlighted that the MIDH is a very significant scheme of the Central Government to promote holistic growth of the horticulture sector in the UT. He impressed upon the officers to maintain coordination and synergy among themselves so that the desired objectives of the scheme are achieved.

The ACS directed the officers to remain proactive in the needs of the farming community as well as youth who approach the department for any kind of assistance for the establishment of units. He asked them to create awareness among the Youth as well farming community about the various benefits of the scheme.

Remarkably, the SLEC approved the five CA storage projects to various unit holders for their onward submission to Central Government. The meeting also approved assistance in favor of various unit holders for the establishment of Food Processing Units.

More so, the SLEC also approved assistance for the establishment of the Banana Ripening Chamber as well assistance for the procurement of Reefer vans for various individuals.
