4 drug peddlers held in Budgam, Pulwama

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam and Pulwama and recovery of contraband substances from their possession.

In Budgam, at a checkpoint established at Malpora crossing intercepted two persons carrying nylon bags on their shoulders. During search, police recovered 13 kgs of poppy straw concealed in the nylon bags they were carrying.

Both person, identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Nusso Khag, and Mohammad Shafi Wani, son of Abdul Majeed Wani of Hanji Lawipora Beerwah, were arrested, police said.

In Pulwama, a police party at a checkpoint established at Achan intercepted two suspicious persons — Mohammad Altaf Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, and Tariq Ahmad Dar, son of Ali Mohammad Dar, both residents of Achan Pulwama, and recovered one kg of cannabis (Charas) powder from their possession.

They have been arrested and case under relevant sections of law registered in respective police stations, police said.
