2 drug-peddlers held in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police on Friday said it has arrested two drug-peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party during naka checking at Zangam Pattan intercepted a vehicle (Alto car JK05E-6826) with two persons on board. During the search, 300 kgs of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from their possession, police spokesman said.

He said both persons identified as Jehangir Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Sabir Lone, and Ashaq Hussain Magloo, son of Mohammad Ramzan Magloo, both residents of Chennad, Baramulla, were arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pattan and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman said.
