1st Nubra Sports and Adventure Festival 2022 concludes

Leh: The first edition of the five-day-long Nubra Sports and Adventure Festival concluded at Thurtim Tongstat in the presence of chief guest Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson, and the guest of honour Member Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.

Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk; EC Minority, Ghulam Mehdi; Councillor Panamik Tsering Sangrup; Councillor Tiger Rigzin Lundup; Councillor Hunder Kunzang Lotus; Councillor Khaltse Lobzang Sherab; Councillor Lamayuru Dr Morup Dorjay; Joint Director, DYSS; Chief Planning Officer Leh; SDM Nubra; Chairperson BDC Diskit, Panamik; HoDs and a large number of people attended the festival.

Addressing the gathering, CEC Gyalson and MP JTN lauded the efforts of the organising committee and all the stakeholders and supporters including local associations and the Indian Army for successfully conducting the festival at different venues in Nubra this year. They emphasised the need for developing a healthy society by ensuring good platforms for the youths in the field of sports and adventure. They also assured to assist in promoting adventure sports and tourism, especially in far-flung regions of Ladakh including the Nubra region.

As informed, the main motive behind conducting this festival was to motivate and encourage youths especially women to participate in sports such as rock climbing, cycling, archery, etc. Accordingly, a large number of women participation was witnessed in each and every sporting activity.
