J&K reports 17 Covid cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 17 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours which took the total number of positive cases recorded thus far to 4,79,174, officials said Monday.

They said 11 of the fresh cases were reported in Kashmir valley and six in Jammu division.

In Kashmir, they informed Srinagar reported nine cases, Pulwama and Kulgam reported one case each while no other district reported any fresh cases today.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Doda reported three cases and Jammu, Samba and Kathua reported one case each.

They also informed that eight patients were discharged from various hospitals including five from Kashmir and three from Jammu division in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Some 1,722 doses of Covid vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir to 2,45,87,098, officials informed.

Currently there are 114 active positive cases in J&K — 72 in Kashmir and 42 in Jammu division. So far cumulatively 4,74,275 infected persons have recovered and 4,785 have died – 2,433 in Kashmir and 2,352 in Jammu division.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 36,126

India logged 3,011 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,45,97,498, while the active cases dipped to 36,126, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death toll climbed to 5,28,701 with 28 fatalities which includes 20 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.08 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.73 percent, the ministry said.

A decline of 1,318 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.23 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 1.31 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,40,32,671, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 218.77 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The eight fatalities reported in the last 24 hours include two from Kerala and one each from Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha and West Bengal.
