J&K reports 13 new COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 13 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the cumulative infection tally to 4,79,115, officials said.

Nine fresh cases were reported from Kashmir and four from Jammu division, they said.

In Kashmir division, Srinagar reported five cases, Budgam, Pulwama, Kupwara and Anantnag reported one case each while no other district reported any fresh cases today.

Similarly, in Jammu division, Jammu district reported three cases and Poonch reported one case.

The death toll due to the virus stands at 4,785 as no fresh death was reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

So far the viral infection has claimed 4,785 lives in J&K; 2,433 persons have died in Kashmir division and 2,352 in Jammu division.

Currently there are 133 active cases of the disease in J&K — 87 in Kashmir and 46 in Jammu division — while the number of recoveries has reached 4,74,197, they said.

Officials said 25 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 17 from Kashmir and eight from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

They said 3,506 doses of COVID vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,45,75,250.
