J&K logs 25 new COVID-19 cases, one death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir registered 25 fresh Covid cases on Tuesday, taking the infection tally in the union territory to 4,78,972 with one fresh death due to the Coronavirus, an official said here.

They said Kashmir valley accounted for 21 fresh cases and Jammu for four.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, it was informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported nine cases, Baramulla reported five cases, Ganderbal three, Kulgam reported two cases while Budgam and Anantnag reported one case each.

In Jammu division, Jammu district reported three cases and Kathua reported one case while no other district reported any fresh cases today.

The death toll due to the virus was 4,785 as one fresh death was reported from Jammu division, he said. So far the viral infection has claimed 2,433 lives in Kashmir while 2,352 persons have succumbed in Jammu division.

Currently there are 172 active cases of the disease in the union territory — 111 in Kashmir and 61 in Jammu division — while the number of recoveries has reached 4,74,015, the official said, adding there were 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) recorded so far in J&K.

Moreover, 46 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 31 from Jammu division and 15 from Kashmir, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation, the official said.

He said 6,002 doses of COVID vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,45,41,244.
