J&K reports 10 fresh Covid cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 10 fresh Covid cases on Sunday, taking the infection tally to 4,78,935, officials said.

Of the new cases, two were from the Jammu division while eight were from Kashmir, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup of these positive cases, they informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported four cases, Budgam two cases, Kupwara and Anantnag one case each. Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported two cases, while no other district reported any fresh case today.

The death toll stood at 4,784. No fresh Covid-related fatality was reported from the Union territory, they said. So far the viral infection has claimed 2,433 lives in Kashmir and 2,351 in Jammu division.

Currently there are 211 active cases in J&K — 110 in Kashmir and 101in Jammu division — while the overall recoveries have reached 4,73,940, they said, adding that 28 more patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 23 from Kashmir and five from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Also, 1,321 doses of Covid vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across Jammu and Kashmir till date to 2,45,25,557, officials said.

Active Covid cases in country rise to 47,922

With 5,664 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,45,34,188, while the active cases increased to 47,922, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,28,337 with 35 fatalities which includes 21 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.11 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.71 percent, the ministry said.

An increase of 1,074 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.96 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 1.79 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,39,57,929, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 216.56 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 14 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours include three from Maharashtra and two from Chhattisgarh.
