DGP presides over event, chairs officers' meeting; visits Neel Top Ramban

Srinagar: J&K Police is working tirelessly in protecting the interests of the people, and those who one way or other go against the law will face the law.

This was, according to the Police spokesperson, stated by the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh at the closing ceremony of the 3rd Shaheed DySP Aman memorial T20 Cricket tournament in Kishtwar today.

The DGP was on a day-long visit to Kishtwar where he besides presiding over the closing ceremony of the 3rd Shaheed DySP Aman memorial T20 Cricket tournament and chaired officers meeting at DPO. He later visited Neel Top, Mal Tragan, and Ramban and interacted with the locals.

ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, DIG DKR Range Dr Sunil Gupta, Commander 9 Sector RR Brig. Samir K Palanda, DC Kishtwar Devansh Yadav, SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt, CO CISF 7th Reserve Bn. Anand Sexsena, CO IRP 22 Bn Rajesh Kumar Sharma, CO CRPF 52 Bn. Parma Shivan, CO 11 RR Col. Shesh Pal, CO 17 RR Col. Ameya Chiplanker, CO 26 RR Col. Joseph Cristy Tarfil, families of martyrs and respectable citizens of the Kishtwar district were present at the closing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP while paying rich tributes to the martyr DySP Aman Thakur said that the brave heart was a dedicated and devoted officer who voluntarily worked on the anti-terror front. “The martyr was awarded the prestigious Shuriya Chakra for his gallant act in service of the nation by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, the DGP said. This tournament is dedicated to remembering the martyrdom of the fallen hero.” He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has lost a number of officers and jawans against the war on terror and added that JKP has been remembering each and every martyr of the force through various events and programmes being organised across UT.

“Kathua T20 tournament has become a national event now and numerous other events are being organised every year to remember our brave hearts who sacrificed their lives in safeguarding the interests of the nation.” He added that such events and programmes provide an opportunity to connect with the families of martyrs. He thanked and appreciated the overwhelming participation of the locals in remembering the JKP martyrs.

The DGP said that the people of Kishtwar have contributed in strengthening peace in the district and hoped that they will continue their cooperation and support to J&K Police. He however emphasized strengthening brotherhood and communal harmony in the region. He said that with the cooperation of people from across the UT we are witnessing that peace is growing in Jammu and Kashmir and added that more collective efforts are required to stabilise it further. Referring to some social media reports, the DGP said J&K Police is working tirelessly in protecting the interests of the people and added that those who one way or other go against the law will face the law. He appealed for guiding the youth towards the right path for their bright future.

Speaking to the media persons the DGP said that besides paying tributes to martyrs these events provide a platform for budding youth to showcase their talent. He said that J&K Police is wholeheartedly taking part in the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign by organizing various programmes across J&K. He said that it is high time to provide opportunities to the youth to express themselves, adding that Hon’ble LG J&K Shri Manoj Sinha during his yesterday’s visit to South Kashmir’s twin districts has revived the means of entertainment for the youth of Kashmir. He said that time is not far when Kashmiri youth will direct and make their own movies and showcase their talent to the world.

He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir overwhelmingly participated in national events like Har Ghar Tiranga & Independence Day celebrations. The DGP said that social media is being used by Pakistan to instigate youth to foment trouble here but the youth & people of Jammu and Kashmir have understood the evil conspiracy and have rejected the path of violence. He said that Police, and CAPFs are working day & night to consolidate peace in J&K.

After the event, the DGP chaired officers meeting to review the security scenario of the district. Addressing the meeting the DGP stressed high alertness and vigilance so that no chance is provided to anti-national elements to revive their structure. DGP directed for settling down the sensitive cases on priority. Stressing intensified efforts against the drug trade the DGP directed to book habitual offenders under PSA.

SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt and officers of the Army & CRPF briefed the DGP about the measures taken to maintain peace and order in the district. Besides ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh the meeting was attended by DIG DKR range Dr Sunil Gupta and other jurisdictional officers of Police, Army & CRPF.

The DGP accompanied by ADGP Jammu and DIG DKR range later visited Neel Top, Mal Tragan Ramban and had an interaction with a huge local gathering.

Speaking on the occasion the DGP complimented the people for maintaining brotherhood and taking part in peace activities. He alerted them about the cross-border conspiracies. Advising the youth to take part in sports activities, the DGP directed the officers to organise sports events for them. He gave patient listening to the issues highlighted by the participants and assured early redressal.

Major Adhiraj Rana 12 RR D Coy, SDPO Banihal Nissar Khawaja, SHO Ramsu Neem-ul-Haq and incharge Police post Neel briefed the DGP about the situation in the area.
