Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference Sr. Vice President and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today assured the people of J&K that the Peoples Conference will struggle for the restoration of Article 370 through peaceful and constitutional means.

Vakil while addressing a convention of party workers in Muqam Sharief Sopore lambasted NC & PDP leadership & said these two parties have always compromised the interests of the people of J&K to secure their personal interests from time to time.

“History is a testament to the fact that both NC & PDP allowed continued hollowing of Article 370 during their regimes in alliance with centre governments whether it was congress or BJP. The people of J&K will never forgive the leadership of NC & PDP for trampling upon the interest of the people of J&K to satiate their lust for power,” Vakil added.

Vakil further said that people should not forget that It was Farooq Abdullah who in 2002 enacted POTA in Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with BJP when his son was Junior Foreign Minister in the BJP government.

“Who is responsible for thousands of innocent killings in the last three decades? Who is responsible for slapping PSAs on our youth? In the last three decades, J&K has had either NC or PDP Governments in the last 70 years. These two parties have taken turns in killing, maiming, jailing and humiliating people of J&K. When they are in power they don’t talk about autonomy or Self Rule but when out of power they shed crocodile tears. Now, they have the audacity to project themselves as the victims whereas, in reality, they have all along been the ones creating victims out of people of J&K,” he added.

Vakil asserted that these two parties can no longer mislead & befool the people of J&K. He said that there is a strong desire among the people for a change of leadership.

Others who addressed the convention include constituency in charge Fayaz Ahmed Naikoo & Rayees Ahmed Sarpanch, Mohammed Shaban Malla Sarpanch, Jehangir Ahmed Sarpanch & Senior leader Molvi Bashir Ahmed.
