J&K logs 269 new COVID cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir registered 269 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the infection tally in the union territory to 4,76,444 while no fresh death due to the coronavirus was reported, officials said here.
As many as 218 cases were reported from Kashmir valley, and 51 cases from Jammu division, they said.
Providing district-wise break-up of these cases, officials said in Kashmir division, Srinagar district reported 79 cases, Budgam 38 cases, Kulgam reported 29 cases, Baramulla reported 22 cases, Anantnag reported 15 cases, Kupwara reported 12 cases, Bandipora reported 11 cases, Pulwama reported nine cases, Shopian two cases while Ganderbal reported one fresh case today.
Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 37 cases, Ramban eight, Kishtwar six, Doda and Kathua two cases each, while one case each was reported by Udhampur and Poonch districts.
The death toll due to the virus was 4,779 as no fresh death was reported from the union territory, the officials said. So far the disease has claimed 2,432 lives in Kashmir while 2,347 persons have succumbed in Jammu division.
Currently there are 2,213 active cases of the disease in the union territory – 1,825 in Kashmir and 388 in Jammu division — while the cumulative number of recoveries has reached 4,69,452, they said. This also includes 349 people – 275 in Kashmir and 74 in Jammu division — who were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours after their recuperation, officials said.
The officials said so far J&K has recorded 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus).

Active Covid cases in country decline to 96,506

India logged 8,586 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of cases to 4,43,57,546 while the active cases have declined to 96,506, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday.
The death toll climbed to 5,27,416 with 48 fatalities which includes six deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The active cases comprise 0.22 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.59 percent, the health ministry said.
A decline of 1,142 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.19 percent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 3.31 percent, according to the health ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,37,33,624, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.
According to the ministry, 210.31 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.
The 42 new fatalities include seven from Delhi, six each from Karnataka and Punjab, four each from Rajasthan and West Bengal, three from Haryana, two each from Bihar and Himachal Pradesh and one each from Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Uttarakhand.
