J&K logs 131 fresh Covid cases

India adds 9,531 Covid cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 131 fresh COVID-19 cases that pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,76,175, officials here said.

The death toll remained unchanged at 4,779, they said. So far the viral infection has claimed 2,432 lives in Kashmir while 2,347 persons have succumbed in Jammu division.

Of the fresh cases 117 were reported from the Kashmir valley and remaining 114 from the Jammu division, the officials said.

Proving district-wise break-up of these cases, they said that in Kashmir division, Baramulla reported 37 cases, Srinagar reported 24 cases, Kupwara reported 17 cases, Ganderbal reported 15 cases, Budgam 12 cases, Anantnag  and Bandipora reported four cases each, Pulwama reported three cases and Kulgam reported one fresh case today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu reported seven cases,  Kishtwar five cases, Doda and Kathua one each while no other district reported any fresh case today.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the union territory stands at 2,293 – of these 1,882 are in Kashmir valley and 411 in Jammu division.

So far cumulatively 4,69,103 people have recovered from the viral disease, they said. This also includes 435 persons — 384 from Kashmir and 51 from Jammu division — who were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

The officials also informed that 31,028 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours across Jammu and Kashmir bringing the cumulative number of doses administered till date to 2,41,07,155.

Meanwhile India on Monday logged 9,531 fresh coronavirus infections that pushed its tally to 4,43,48,960, while the number of active cases came down to 97,648, according to Union Health ministry data.

The toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 5,27,368 with 26 more fatalities, including 10 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.22 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.59 percent, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.15 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.59 percent, the ministry said.

A total of 88.27 crore tests have been conducted so far with 2,29,546 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, it said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,37,23,944, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 percent, it said.

So far, 210.02 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive, it added.

The fresh deaths include four each from Rajasthan and West Bengal, two each from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Manipur, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
