J&K logs 563 fresh cases of COVID-19

Active Covid cases decline in country

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 563 new Covid cases that pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,73,782 on Sunday, officials said.

Of the new cases, 505 were reported from Kashmir and 58 from Jammu, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, the officials informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar district reported 129 cases, Baramulla reported 130 cases, Kupwara reported 80 cases, Anantnag reported 60 cases, Budgam 58 cases, Kulgam reported 16 cases, Pulwama reported 12 cases, Ganderbal reported nine cases, Bandipora reported eight cases, and Shopian reported three fresh cases today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 39 cases, Udhampur five, Ramban four, Poonch three, Rajouri, Doda, and Kishtwar reported two cases each, Kathua reported one case while Samba and Reasi reported no fresh cases today.

The death toll remained unchanged at 4,777. So far the disease has claimed 2,431 lives in Kashmir and 2,346 in Jammu division.

Currently there are 4,463 active cases in J&K — 3,741 in Kashmir and 722 in Jammu division — while the overall recoveries stand at 4,64,542, officials added. In the last 24 hours, 679 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation. This includes 604 persons from Kashmir and 75 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile India added 14,092 new coronavirus infections taking the virus tally to 4,42,53,464, while the active cases dipped to 1,16,861, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,27,037 with 41 fatalities which includes 12 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.26 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.54 percent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 2,403 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.69 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.57 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,36,09,566, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 207.99 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

The 29 new fatalities include nine from Delhi, five from Karnataka, three each from Gujarat and West Bengal, two from Uttar Pradesh, one each from Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Punjab and Uttarakhand.
