J&K records 626 new Covid cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 626 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, raising the cumulative infection tally in the Union territory to 4,70,827, officials said.

While 512 cases were reported from the Kashmir Valley, 114 were reported from the Jammu division, they said.

Providing district-wise break-up of these positive cases, officials informed that in Kashmir valley, Srinagar district reported 167 cases, Baramulla reported 105 cases, Budgam 81 cases, Kupwara reported 64 cases, Ganderbal reported 24 cases, Anantnag reported 22 cases, Kulgam reported 19  cases, Pulwama reported 15 cases, Bandipora reported 14 cases, and Shopian reported one fresh case today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 72 cases, Ramban and Kishtwar reported nine cases each, Doda eight, Udhampur five, Kathua and Poonch three cases each, Rajouri and Samba two cases each, while Reasi reported one fresh case today.

The death toll due to the disease stands at 4,776 as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, the officials said. So far the disease has claimed 2,430 lives in Kashmir Valley while 2,346 persons have died in the Jammu region.

Currently there are 5,146 active cases in the Union territory – in Kashmir and … in Jammu division, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,60,905, they said, adding this also includes 525 patients – 403 in Kashmir and 122 in Jammu, who were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 1,31,807

With 12,751 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,41,74,650, while the active cases have declined to 1,31,807, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The death toll has climbed to 5,26,772 with 42 fatalities which includes 10 deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.30 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.51 percent, the ministry said.

A decrease of 3,703 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.50 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.69 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,35,16,071, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 206.88 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The fresh fatalities include six from Delhi, five from West Bengal, four from Maharashtra, three each from Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, two each from Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan and one each from Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
