First batch of pilgrims returns after performing Hajj

Div Com receives 145 Hajis at Srinagar Airport

Srinagar: The first batch of 145 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir returned from the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, officials said.

The batch was received at the Srinagar international airport by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole and other senior officials from police and civil administration, they said.

The 145 pilgrims — 80 males and 65 females — returned in a flight that landed at the airport here at 7.50 am.

Over 6,000 pilgrims from J&K have gone on the annual pilgrimage this year. The Hajj was resumed this year after a gap of two years due to COVID-19.

The last return flight carrying pilgrims from J&K will arrive here on August 02.

An official spokesman said that while receiving the pilgrims, Div Com was accompanied by DIG Central Kashmir Sujeet Singh, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza, Director Health Services Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, CEO J&K Hajj Committee, Abdul Salam Mir, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem and others.

While interacting with the pilgrims, Div Com warmly welcomed and greeted them on performing Hajj and for their successful culmination of holy journey, said the spokesman.

The Div Com enquired about the facilities and arrangements put in place for their well being during their pilgrimage, the spokesman said, adding, the pilgrims expressed their gratitude to the LG administration for making fool-proof and elaborative arrangements during the pilgrimage.

On the occasion, the Div Com also took stock of arrangements for the smooth arrival of pilgrims and stressed on ensuring their comfortable home return.
