250 sheep killed in lightning strike in Anantnag
Srinagar: At least 250 sheep were killed in lightning strike in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
“The incident took place in a pasture in Hoksar area of Kokernag tehsil in Anantnag district during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday,” said an official.
“Out of a total stock of 350, we have lost over 250 sheep. We are going through a very tough time,” said one of the owners.
No human casualties were reported in the incident.
The sheep belong to Bhat Fayaz Ahmad, Abdul Rashid, Abdul Rahman, Arshid Ahmad and Mohammad Ashraf, residents of Adigam Anantnag.
