Principal Secretary SED chairs maiden meeting of J&K SCERT

Jammu: Principal Secretary, School Education Department (SED), Bishwajit Kumar Singh, today chaired the first meeting of the executive committee of J&K State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

Director SCERT, Professor Veena Pandita and other executive members including Director School Education Jammu, Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma, Director School Education Kashmir, Iftikhar Hussain Chauhan, Director Finance SED, Surinder Kumar, Joint Director SCERT Jammu along with eminent educationists, Head and Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Jammu, Professor Renu Nanda, Former Director School Education, Mohammad Rafi and Special Invitee, Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, J&K, Engineer Deep Raj Kanethia.

Director gave a detailed presentation regarding present status of establishment of J&K SCERT, major achievements and initiatives of SCERT, status of NISHTHA training programme, webinars on NEP 2020 organized by SCERT J&K, review and revision of History textbooks developed by JKBOSE of classes 6th to 10th, Content Enrichment Trainings, Development Process of State Curriculum Frameworks (SCFs), NIPUN Bharat Mission in J&K (Katha Shilp), Padhe Bharat Scheme (100 days reading campaign), INSPIRE awards 2020-21.

The meeting had detailed deliberations on prescribed agenda points of the meeting. 

Principal Secretary, who is also chairman executive committee SCERT appreciated the Council for timely accomplishment of set targets. He asked the SCERT and DIETs to take services of DIET faculty for mentoring the schools after proper need analysis besides organizing science modeling events at zonal level to motivate the students for increased participation and registration in INSPIRE awards.

The Committee members also put forth several suggestions envisaging further streamlining of functioning of SCERT.
