Two non-locals shot at in Pulwama

Srinagar: Two non-local persons were shot at and injured by militants in Litter area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.

“At about 7.15 pm, terrorists fired upon two non-local persons namely Dheeraj Dutt and Surinder Singh — both residents of Pathankot, Punjab, at Nowpora in Litter area of Pulwama,” a police official said.

He said they were shifted to District Hospital Pulwama in injured condition, where from Singh, who had a bullet injury in the chest, was referred to SHMS Hospital in Srinagar.

Sources said that the two – driver and conductor of a poultry truck – were shot at by terrorists while they were in the said truck at Nowpora, Litter area of Pulwama.

They said that Surinder has been hit in the chest while as Deeraj has bullet injuries on leg.

Police have cordoned the area and has launched searches to nab the attackers, sources said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Pulwama Dr B S Tullah told a local news agency GNS that one of the injured, Surinder, has bullet injury on left side of chest and he has been referred to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for advanced treatment.

Another Dheraj Dutta has injuries in leg and is under treatment, he said.
