Cop, civilian hurt in grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar: A police personnel and a civilian were injured in a grenade attack in Saraf Kadal area of Srinagar on Sunday evening.

“At about 7:20 pm, the terrorists hurled a grenade on a deployment of police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Saraf Kadal area of the city”, a police official said.

The injured policeman presently posted at police post Fateh Kadal has been identified as Selection Grade constable, Mehraj Ahmad while as the civilian was identified as Sartaj Ahmad Bhat (27) son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Saraf Kadal.

The injured were shifted to the SMHS hospital, the official added.

When contacted Medical Superintendent, SMHS Hospital, Dr Kanwaljeet Singh told ‘Kashmir Images’ that two persons were admitted in the hospital with minor injuries. He said both the injured re stable.
