J&K records 124 new cases of COVID-19, 2 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded 124 fresh coronavirus cases, raising the tally to 3,40,722, officials said.

The union territory also reported two more deaths – one each from Kashmir and Jammu regions, due to the virus in the last 24 hours, they added.

Of the fresh cases, 93 were reported from Kashmir and 31 from the Jammu division, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 42 cases, followed by 17 cases in Jammu district.

Officials also said 127 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 103 from Kashmir and 24 from the Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

They said there were 50 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory and no fresh case was reported since Saturday evening.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 62,486 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,80,52,223.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,40,722 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 1,350 active positive cases in the UT including 995 in Kashmir and 355 in Jammu division, while as 3,34,849 persons have recovered and 4,523 have died —  2,326 in Kashmir division and 2,197 in Jammu division.
