4 drug-peddlers arrested in Pulwama; contraband substances seized

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said it arrested four drug-peddlers in Pulwama and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.

According to a police spokesperson, a police party during patrolling at Tenghar area intercepted four suspicious persons — Junaid Ahmad Ganaie, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, resident of Chatapora; Umer Feroz Bhat, son of Feroz Ahmad Bhat of Pulwama near Wani Masjid; Aijaz Ahmad Thoker, son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Old Bus Stand Pulwama; and Qaisar Nazir Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir of Mughalpora Pulwama.

During their search, 49 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, spokesperson said.

Separately, a police party raided village Rakh Litter and recovered 20 kgs of ‘Bang-Patri’ from the residential house of Rayees Ahmad Thoker, son of Abdul Rashid Thoker. The accused is at large and efforts are on to arrest him, police said.
