Apex Level Export Promotion Committee finalizes the Export product from each district of J&K

JAMMU : Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Ranjan Prakash Thakur today chaired 2nd Apex Level Export Promotion Committee meeting as Exports Commissioner J&K to discuss various means to strengthen export scenario in J&K.

Pertinently, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir had constituted the Apex level and District level Export Promotion Committees to boost exports from J&K vide G.O 677-JK(GAD) of 2020 dated 25-06-2020. The agenda for the said meeting was to approve the District-wise list of products (Priority wise list) under District as Export Hub program and finalization of Draft District Export action plan for all the Districts as per products finalized by DLEPCs.

To tap the export potential of agricultural and industrial products of the Districts as Export Hub (DEH) initiative will be initiated through District Export action plan in all the districts of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in phased manner. The objective of DEH initiative is to mobilize each district of the UT to achieve its potential as an export hub. Under the DEH initiative, District Export Promotion Committees (DEPCs) have been constituted in all the districts and products/services with export potential have been identified in each district.

During the meeting, Ranjan Prakash highlighted the importance of new ideas and techniques to develop the export market of J&K for creation of better supply chain for exports.

Member Secretary of the committee, Ms. Ankita Kar, Managing Director, JKTPO highlighted the list of products selected by District level Export Promotion Committee. The products ranged from the sectors from Agriculture production, Animal Sheep husbandry and Fisheries, Industries, Manufacturing, Handloom and Handicrafts, Horticulture, Tourism, Dairy & Wool products.

Furthermore, Suvidh Shah, Joint DGFT briefed about Draft Export Action plans and highlighted the strategies to overcome the challenges during the process.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Raghav Langer, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Ms. Anoo Malhotra, Director Handloom & Handicrafts, Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, Director Handloom & Handicrafts, Jammu, Vikas Gupta, Addl. Secretary Agriculture Production Department Jahangir Hashmi, Director Planning, Industries & Commerce Department S. Shabir Shafi , representatives from Khadi & Village Industries Board, representatives from J&K bank and other senior officials.
