‘Doctor among 3 arrested for alleged drug trafficking in Pulwama’

Srinagar: A doctor is among three people arrested by police for alleged drug trafficking in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a report said.

Quoting sources, news agency CNS reported that the doctor, a resident of new colony Pulwama and posted at Zainapora hospital of Shopian district as a gynecologist was arrested along with two more men around two weeks ago in a drug peddling case by police.

Drugs worth millions of rupees were recovered from their possession, the report said.

The news agency quoted SSP Pulwama Ghulam Jeelani Wani as saying that a SIT headed by DSP headquarters has been constituted in this case and more arrests are expected.

The SSP further said that the “priority of the police is to curb drug dealers instead of drug users”.

A case under FIR 302/21 has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been initiated.
