Programme aimed at empowering, handholding youth to establish Self-Employment Units: DC Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In compliance to the instructions of LG’s Administration to identify and provide self-employment to at least 05 persons in every Panchayat, the District Administration Srinagar today organized an Awareness cum Enrollment drive under Be Rozgar se Swa-Rozgar (From unemployed to self-Employed) campaign at Panchayat Halqa Panzinara.

The programme was organized on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad to provide employment avenues to the unemployed youth which includes the financial support and skilling as a part of the process.

During the programme, the Nodal officer of the campaign for Srinagar Mohammad Rouf Rahman along with the officers and Resource Persons from various Line Departments viz-a-viz Employment, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue & RDD interacted with the participating members of Panchayat Raj institutions and youth of the area.

The Officers made them aware about the various Government sponsored flagship programmes and schemes like Tejaswini, Mumkin, PMEGP, JKREGP, IDDS & IPDP, KCC, MIDH, ISDS, National Livestock Mission, RKVY schemes.

Underscoring the importance of organizing programmes under Be Rozgar se Swa-Rozgar, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar said such initiatives are aimed at empowering the unemployed youth of District Srinagar and providing handholding support to the aspiring educated unemployed youth to establish self-employment units in the promising and viable sectors/fields.

The DC urged the local unemployed youth to opt for the self-employment sector as a dignified alternative to the Government job to earn livelihood and become a job provider rather than a job seeker.

While motivating the aspiring youth at the programme, the Deputy Director Employment, Srinagar said that no collateral security is required for eligible and desirous youth under different schemes of Mission Youth such as Mumkin and Tejaswini.

During the programme, on the spot registration of the prospective beneficiaries was also carried out by the officials of the line departments.

Besides, Public representatives of the concerned Panchayat Halqa’s, the programme was attended by Career Counselling Officer DE&CC Srinagar, Manzoor Ahmad Rather, Employment Officer DE&CC, Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, VAS (Animal Husbandry Department), Dr. Qurat-ul-ain (JAEO)-Agriculture Department, Ab. Mateen, Flock Supervisor (Sheep Husbandry), Feroz Ahmad, Field Office, Horticulture, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Officials of the RDD -Block Qamarwari and other concerned.
