UEED official caught taking bribe: ACB

Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau Monday said that it has caught an official of the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) Srinagar for accepting bribe for issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC).

According to an Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) press release, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Works Supervisor with the UEED Srinagar, had demanded a bribe of Rs 7000 from a complainant  for issuing NOC to him for running a guesthouse in Munawarabbad area of the city.

Following a written complaint in this regard, a formal case under section 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered and a trap team constituted, which caught Dar red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 7000 from the complainant, ACB said.

It said the amount of bribe was recovered on the spot and Dar was arrested and taken into custody by ACB. After his arrest, searches were also conducted in the premises of the accused.
