J&K reports 170 fresh coronavirus cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 170 fresh cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the infected tally to 3,27,466 while no fresh death due to the virus was reported from the Union territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 129 were from Kashmir and 41 from Jammu division of the UT, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 70 cases followed by 27 cases in Budgam district. Srinagar has 698 active cases, which is the highest among the 20 districts in the UT.

The death toll in the UT due to the pandemic was 4,415 as no fresh death was reported in the past 24 hours.

Moreover, 98 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 86 from Kashmir and 12 from Jammu division in the past 24 hours, officials said.

They said so far 75.67 percent of the population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 46 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in Jammu and Kashmir as no fresh case was reported since Wednesday evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,27,466 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,421 active positive cases across the UT, while as 3,21,630 persons have recovered and 4,415 have died – 2,246 in Kashmir and 2,169 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 1,41,47,712 test results available, 1,38,20,246 samples have tested as negative till today.

Till date 34,35,469 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 8,070 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 1,421 in isolation and 4,64,285 in home surveillance while as 29,57,278 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
