Short filmmaking course begins at Langate Army Camp

Srinagar: In a joint effort by the Indian Army and Onir, a renowned Bollywood film director, the Kashmiri youth are being introduced to a short filmmaking course, through a workshop being conducted at Langate Army Camp from 27th to 31st August 2021, said PRO Defence Srinagar.

“A total of fifteen local youths, including one girl, are participating in the workshop. These participants were selected, after a rigorous selection procedure. The workshop is being organized in two phases. The first phase was through online interaction with participants, in which they were introduced to the nuances of film making and the second phase is through an offline interaction, which started today in Langate,” the PRO said.

“The training team comprises of five members including Onir. It is to be noted that Onir is an acclaimed award-winning director and won the National Award for his film “I Am”. He is also well known for his highly acclaimed film “My brother Nikhil”, which won several national and international awards, including for the best film and best director. On day one, Onir briefed the participants on basics of film making,” he said.

The further PRO said: “The participants were divided into four teams. Each team chose one theme each for their short films, and were guided by the training team on refining their scripts.”

“Over the next three days, these teams will do outdoor shoots for their videos, based on selected themes, by visiting various locations in North Kashmir,” he said.

“These short films, produced by the teams will be screened at Army Camp, Langate on 31 August 2021. Onir highlighted, that the youths of Kashmir, have got immense talent and he is confident, that all participants will be able to produce good results. The participants were quite excited to meet Onir and learn from him and his team members,” he added.
