J&K records 97 COVID-19 cases, 2 more deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s COVID-19 caseload increased to 3,23,422 on Sunday as 97 more people tested positive for the disease, while the death toll increased to 4,397 with two more fatalities, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 76 were from the Kashmir Valley and 21 were reported from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest number of cases at 28, followed by 11 cases each in Ganderbal and Kulgam districts while two fresh deaths, one each from Kashmir and Jammu regions, were reported in the past 24 hours, officials said.

They said during this period 110 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals — including 65 from Kashmir and45 from Jammu division.

There are 42 mucormycosis (black fungus) cases in the union territory. No fresh case was reported since last evening, they said.

They also said so far 99.69 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,23,422 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,288 positive cases across the UT, while 3,17,737 persons have recovered and 4,397 have died – 2,240 in Kashmir and2,157 in Jammu division.
