J&K records 142 new COVID-19 cases, no death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 142 fresh cases of coronavirus on Saturday, taking the number of infected persons to 3,22,428 while the death toll remained 4,386 as no new fatality was reported for the second consecutive day, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 83 were recorded in Kashmir Valley and 59 from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest number of cases at 36, followed by 16 in Doda district.

Moreover, 136 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 87 from Kashmir and 49 from Jammu division in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Meanwhile, officials said, there were 37 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory.

Besides this, 99.56 percent of population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir so far, they said.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,22,428 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,410 active positive cases across the UT, while 3,16,632 persons have recovered and 4,386 have died – 2,238 in Kashmir division and 2,148 in Jammu division.
