4 burglars arrested in Sopore: Police

Srinagar: Police in Sopore on Friday claimed to have solved many burglary cases while investigating a hit and run case. Four accused persons were also arrested and stolen property recovered from their possession.

Giving details, a police press release informed that on August 01 an unknown car had hit a child Hurair Ahmad Dar, son of Hilal Ahmed Dar of Patusa, Rafiabad at Patusa road.

The injured child was interned at District Hospital Baramulla for treatment while a case (FIR no. 80/2021) under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Panzalla.

During investigation, police was able to seize the car (JK01H-7583) involved in the accident, and the accused driver Javaid Ahmad Ahangar, son of Ali Muhammad Ahangar, resident of Bramen Rafiabad was arrested.

Further probe revealed that the accused driver is a habitual thief and has been involved in various cases of theft.

On questioning, the accused disclosed that he along with his other associates — Haroon Ahmad Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar; Khursheed Ahmad Wani alias Khwaja Tang, son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani, both residents of Saidpora Sopore — have stolen number of vehicles from different places and also looted various shops at Srinagar, Sopore, Baramulla, Handwara, Dangiwacha, Rohama and Nadihal shrine.

After strenuous efforts, one more accused was arrested while as Khursheed Ahmad Wani is still at large, police said, adding efforts are on to arrest him.

On their disclosure, police have recovered three stolen cars, and readymade garments and other goods of worth ₹1.5 lakh approximately so far.

During the further investigations, two more accused identified as Prince Fareed Khan, son of Fareed Ahmed Khan, resident of Bremen, and Jehangir Ahmad Shiekh alias Bubloo, son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Sheer Colony Sopore, have been arrested.

All the accused arrested persons have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Further investigation is going on and more recoveries and arrests are expected, police said.
