Conductor killed, driver injured as oil tanker falls into gorge in Shopian
One killed, another injured in road accident in Doda
Srinagar/Banihal: the conductor of an oil-tanker died while the driver was seriously injured after the vehicle plunged into deep gorge at Dubjan along Mughal road in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday afternoon.
According to news agency GNS, the mishap took place after the driver lost control over the vehicle (JK-01R 3898.)
In the incident, conductor Neeraj Singh, son of Galdari Kumar died on the spot and driver Bhod Raj, son of Mohan Chand sustained critical injuries. Both are said to be residents of Doda district.
The injured driver was immediately taken to District Hospital Shopian from where he was referred to a Srinagar hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man died while his niece was critically injured after the car they were traveling in collided with a bus and fell into a deep gorge near Maribudhi area in Doda district on Sunday, officials said.
Locals said the car (JK-02AK 5522) was on its way to Jammu from Doda when it collided with the bus coming from opposite direction on the 110-km-long Batote-Kishtwar highway before it rolled down the gorge near river Chenab.
Soon after the news of accident, police and Al-Khair volunteers from Batote started a rescue operation.
Police said that the 45-year-old Jagdish Raj, son of Dittu Ram, a resident of Prem Nagar Doda, died on the spot while his niece, Priya, 23, was rescued in a critical condition from the gorge and was shifted to Emergency Hospital, Batote.
