One killed, 3 injured in grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar: At least four civilians including a UP resident were injured, among whom one succumbed to injuries, in a grenade attack by militants on security forces in the Barbarshah area of the city on Saturday, police said.

Militants lobbed a grenade at a joint party of the CRPF and police at Barbarshah falling under Kralkhud police station around 6 pm, a police official said.

He said the grenade exploded on the roadside, resulting in injuries to four civilians, who were subsequently hospitalized.

The area was cordoned off by security forces and a manhunt launched for the assailants.

Meanwhile, one injured civilian, identified as Mudassir Ahmad, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of Hanjigund, Beerwa, Budgam succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital, sources said.
